I am interested in politics and mathematics education
I graduated in mathematics from The University of Manchester in 1985 and qualified to teach at Goldsmiths’ College in 1986. I taught in London state schools for eighteen years including eleven years as a Head of Mathematics. As a classroom teacher, I started a part time MSc in Mathematics Education at London South Bank University (LSBU) and completed it as a head of mathematics in 1994. I moved into Higher Education in 2005 to run the PGCE Mathematics course at LSBU. Since September 2009, I have worked at UCL Institute of Education, where I lead the Secondary PGCE Mathematics University and School Direct Training Programmes. I have research, consultancy and training experience in England, Palestine and Japan. I am interested in working closely with experienced and capable mathematics teachers to understand more about mathematics teaching.
